I keep seeing people list 'Microsoft Office' as a skill on their resumes
A hiring manager in Chicago told me last month they see it so much it's basically meaningless now. What specific software features have you actually used that are worth mentioning instead?

Seriously, list the actual thing you did. Like, did you use mail merge in Word to send out 500 letters? Did you build a whole project tracker in Excel with drop-down lists and conditional formatting? That stuff shows you can solve a problem. Faith_Thomas asked about hours, but it's not about time spent, it's about what you made the software do. Saying "Microsoft Office" is like saying you can use a hammer. Okay, but can you actually build a shelf?
