I swore those $15 resume reviews on Fiverr were a scam, then a guy in Dallas caught a typo that cost me 3 callbacks
Now I can't tell if it was luck or if cheap gig workers actually read closer than the $200 career coach I hired my first go round. Which side are you on, is paid resume help worth it or do you just tweak it yourself?
My own resume once had "detail oriented" spelled wrong, so I am clearly the last person who should be giving advice here. Still, I shelled out for a $200 review years ago and got back pretty much what a friend would have told me for free, so price clearly does not equal effort. The cheap gig worker thing makes sense though, because someone grinding out reviews at $15 a pop has probably seen hundreds of resumes and spots the small stuff fast. The $200 coach might just be better at talking than reading. My take is that a second set of eyes is worth something, but you do not need to pay fancy prices for it. A careful friend with a red pen can do the same job.
