Job hunting tip: a 2-page resume got me 3 interviews, the 1-page rule is mostly a myth
I spent a whole weekend last month squeezing my 9 years of work into one page because everyone online says that is the rule, and I got zero callbacks in 4 weeks. Then a recruiter friend in Austin told me that for anyone with more than about 5 years of experience, a tight 2-page resume is fine and sometimes better, since hiring managers want to see the scope of what you actually did. I redid mine with a second page on a Tuesday, sent out 12 apps, and had 3 interview requests by that Friday. She told me the real filter is the first 10 seconds, so if your top third does not show what the job needs, page count does not matter. I think a lot of us are cutting out solid work just to hit a number. Has anyone else found that going over one page actually helped them get calls?
