Just found out my salary was 15% below market rate for 3 years

I was updating my resume last night and decided to check Glassdoor for my role and city (Austin). Turns out I've been making about $8,000 less than the average for someone with my experience. I mean I knew I wasn't at the top but I didn't realize it was that far off. Kinda stings because I've been here 3 years and never asked for a raise. Has anyone else found a big gap like this? How'd you bring it up with your boss?

Start by owning your market worth" is solid advice, fr. When I found myself in the same boat I straight up asked for a meeting and said "I checked market data and here's what I found" without making it emotional.

Hell yeah. @the_amy nailed it. Did the same thing last year, brought printouts of three job postings with salaries listed. Got a raise on the spot.

Start by owning your market worth. That gap is real and you deserve to be paid fairly.
