My backup plan failed hard during a client audit yesterday

I had this whole system for keeping digital copies of every receipt and invoice. Thought I was being smart scanning everything into a cloud folder. Then yesterday our biggest client asked for a specific receipt from 14 months ago and I realized the scan was just a blank white page. The original paper copy? Long gone in the trash. So I spent 4 hours digging through bank statements and emails to piece together the proof. Has anyone else had a digital filing system let them down at exactly the wrong moment?

Did a friend of yours actually catch something like that once? My buddy jenna once proofed a paper for a classmate who was all proud of it and found like five major errors just from missing a scan. @the_lee is probably right that a quick double check could save a lot of headache.
