My uncle has been a plumber for 30 years. Last Sunday at dinner he said 'I've never once been asked what school I went to.'
I have spent the past 6 weeks rewriting my resume for the 12th time to sound more impressive and it finally hit me that not one person in all my interviews has asked about my GPA. Has anyone here switched to a hands-on trade and felt this same weight fall off?

Man, hold on here, because that uncle story sounds nice but it skips a big part of the picture. Trades pay well once you're in, sure, but your body is the thing getting worn down, and there's no HR department or easy path to a new job when your knees give out at 55. The resume grind is annoying, but a degree and office skills tend to keep paying off longer and leave you with more ways to switch lanes later.
