PSA: I sent a thank you email 3 days after an interview and got a call back
I had a second interview for a project manager job on a Tuesday and felt it went okay. On Friday, I sent a short email just thanking them for their time and mentioning one specific thing we talked about, the timeline for the downtown expansion. I didn't expect much, but the hiring manager called me Monday morning to say they were moving forward, and she said my note showed I paid attention. Has anyone else had a simple follow-up make a clear difference like that?

My old foreman always said the follow-up was half the job. I sent a thank you note after fixing a big commercial unit last year, and the building manager called me for three more jobs that season. It's just good business to show you were listening. That downtown expansion detail you remembered probably sealed it for them.

My dentist office sends a text the next day asking if I'm still comfortable. It feels like they actually care, not just that the appointment is over. I go back every six months because of that small check in. Your foreman was right, the work isn't done until you show you remember the person. It builds a real connection that spreadsheets can't measure.
