Rant: Learning to delegate small tasks changed my work life
I used to handle everything myself and got overwhelmed quickly. Once I started trusting my team with minor duties, I had more energy for the big stuff.

It's interesting how this idea shows up everywhere once you start looking. You see it in families where one person does all the mental labor and burns out, or in group projects where someone takes on all the grunt work. Why do we hold onto small jobs even when they drain us? Maybe we mix up control with being needed, or we fear things won't be done right. Letting go of the tiny stuff often feels like the hardest step, but it's the only way to make room for what actually matters.

I'm basically the poster child for not letting go of tiny tasks.

Remember my buddy Mike who ran his team into the ground? He had to approve every single supply order, even paper clips, and would re-send any email that had a tiny typo. He was like a one-man office patrol. What @leochen said about mixing up control with being needed hits it right on the head. Mike thought being the fixer of every little thing made him the boss. He only changed when his best employee quit, saying she felt like a robot just waiting for his next correction.
