Sat in a 90 minute meeting at my job in Columbus and realized I'd been emailing the wrong person for 8 months
So I'm sitting in this status meeting two weeks ago at our office in Columbus, and the project manager pulls up a slide showing all the client contacts. My name is next to this one account I've been handling since January, and the contact listed is someone I have never once emailed. I felt my stomach drop. For 8 months I'd been sending every update, every file, every dumb little check-in to a guy named Dave who apparently left the company in December. Nobody flagged it because Dave's inbox just forwarded stuff to a shared folder nobody checked. So basically half my work this year went into a hole and my actual client contact had zero idea what we'd been doing. My manager asked why I looked pale and I had to explain the whole thing in front of 12 people. Has anyone dealt with a handoff that got dropped this bad, and how did you dig yourself out of it?
