Spent 3 hours formatting my resume until a recruiter told me the real issue

I was tweaking fonts and margins for ages trying to get my resume to look perfect. Finally showed it to a recruiter friend and she pointed out that none of my bullet points had actual numbers or results in them. She said recruiters scan for impact metrics in like 6 seconds flat. Has anyone else spent way too long on formatting stuff that nobody actually cares about?

Did formatting stuff actually hurt your chances before you showed it to her?

Nah I'd actually argue the opposite - overthinking formatting stuff is usually a waste of time. If she was gonna judge your content based on how it looks before you even showed it to her, that's just a bad match from the start.
