That $500 career coach wasted my time and money

I paid a local coach named Sarah Miller $500 for a 3 session package thinking she'd help me pivot from retail to logistics. All she did was tell me to update my LinkedIn and practice generic interview answers I could've found for free on YouTube. Has anyone else had better luck with career coaches or are most of them just overpriced cheerleaders?

Did the coach actually ask you what specific logistics roles you were aiming for? I tried one a few years back and she spent almost the whole first session telling me about her own career in HR before I got a word in edgewise. Kinda felt like I paid for her therapy session instead of getting any real direction.

She spent the whole first session talking about herself? That's wild.

Hang on, maybe she was trying to build rapport or show she knew her stuff. Sometimes folks need to hear where the person leading them is coming from before they trust the advice. Could be a style thing, not necessarily a waste of time.
