Tried two ways to ask for a raise and one actually worked
Honestly, I used to just say I needed more money because of bills. Last week I showed my boss a list of three big projects I finished and how they helped the team. Got a 5% bump. Anyone else find that showing your work beats just asking?

It's like that with a lot of things. You see it in customer service, where a polite story about a messed up order gets you further than just reading policy back. Even in friendships, explaining you're having a rough week and need to talk works better than just getting mad they haven't called. The personal angle cuts through the noise. It reminds people they're dealing with a person, not just a problem to solve.

Honestly depends on the boss. Some just see a list of projects as you doing the job you already get paid for. I've had way better luck with the personal need angle, it makes it about loyalty and helping out a person, not a business transaction. Showing your work can backfire if they think you're just padding your resume to leave. Sometimes playing the human card is the smarter move.
