Warning: people keep messing up the 'tell me about yourself' interview question

Honestly, I see so many folks just listing their resume out loud when asked this. I used to do it too. Tbh, the hiring manager at my last interview in Phoenix said they hear that 9 out of 10 times. You need to connect your past to this specific job in about 90 seconds. I practiced a short story about how my project management skills from my old retail job directly help me organize client accounts now. Got the offer the next day. What's a good way you've answered this without sounding rehearsed?

Yeah, that short story idea is a game changer.

True, but what if the game it changes is solitaire? Lol

Unless it's my idea, then it's a game changer for the worst.
