Went from 2 callbacks a month to 6 after I cut my resume down to one page
Honestly I was sending out the same 2 page resume for like 5 months and getting almost nothing back. A guy I know who does hiring at a bank in Phoenix looked at it and said nobody reads past the first page anyway. So I trimmed it to one page, moved my numbers to the top, and dropped the stuff from 2011. Two weeks later I had three interviews lined up, and I just got an offer for a job I actually want. Has anyone else seen that big of a jump just from cutting the length down?
Wait, so the trick was just making your resume shorter? So all those years of padding my resume with every random job and club from college was basically me writing a novel nobody wanted to read? The guy at the bank was right though, I bet most hiring folks just skim the top and toss the rest in the trash. Six callbacks from one page is wild, but it also kind of makes you wonder what else we've all been doing wrong this whole time.
