A trim guy in Nashville told me to stop coping my miters by eye and it wrecked my ego
Was doing a big crown run on a custom home outside Nashville last fall and this old trim guy watched me cut miters by eye for about ten minutes before he said something. He grabbed my coping saw, flipped the crown upside down in the miter box, and cut a back bevel in about 20 seconds flat. I had been fighting gaps with caulk for 6 years and here this dude just made them disappear. Now I cope every inside corner, no exceptions, and my caulk gun sits in the truck most days. Any of you still coping by hand or have you switched to something else for painted crown?
