Am I the only one who thinks a framing hammer is better than a nail gun for small jobs?

Been doing trim work for about 8 years now, and I still use a hammer for most of my finish nailing. Last month this young guy on a site in Columbus told me I was wasting time and making more work for myself. He showed me his nail gun setup and bragged about speed. But I pointed at a window casing he did where three nails popped because he didn't set them deep enough. He got quiet real quick. Any other old-school carpenters still prefer hand nailing for certain things?

Realized the nail gun keeps me rushing and that's when I miss the feel of the wood.

Is the wood giving you the silent treatment now? I get it though. That nail gun makes you feel like you're in a race you didn't sign up for. You're just trying to put two boards together, not set a speed record. Sometimes I think the tool companies just want us to break stuff faster so we buy more wood. But you know what? That hammer never fires a nail into thin air like it's playing hide and seek.

Three popped nails in one casing changed my mind on nail guns too.
