An old framer told me my nail gun angle was causing all those blowouts on plywood
Been shooting at 90 degrees for 10 years, but he said tilt it to 15 degrees and I haven't had a single split since, anyone else learn a basic thing way later than they should have?

Took me 12 years to figure out the same thing. Changed everything.

Hold on, 20 years? That hurts my soul. I've been doing this for a while too and learned this just a couple years ago from a grumpy old guy at the hardware store. He saw me buying a box of nails and just shook his head. Said I was wasting money shooting them straight. I felt like such a fool for all those split pieces of plywood I threw away over the years. Now I tell every new guy I see, you gotta tilt that gun a little bit. It's such a small change but it saves you so much headache.
