Can we talk about how caulk hides rot and we all pretend it doesn't?
Pulled siding off a porch in Knoxville last spring and 4 joists were soft under a fresh bead of paintable caulk somebody laid down 6 months before. These young guys on my crew think caulk is a fix, but I'd rather see a bad joint than a covered one, so do you make your helpers strip it or just let it ride?
