Can we talk about how sketchy used nail guns are?
I bought a used Paslode framing nailer off Facebook Marketplace for $40 last week. Guy said it just needed a cleaning. I spent 3 hours taking it apart and found the piston stop was cracked and the fuel cell adapter was corroded. Now I'm $80 into parts and it still leaks air. Anyone else have bad luck with used cordless nailers or is it just me?

Oh man, that's a rough deal. I totally feel your pain on this one. Facebook Marketplace is such a gamble with tools, especially anything that runs on gas or air. You sink time and money into something that was supposed to be a bargain, and it just bleeds you dry. I've learned the hard way that "just needs a cleaning" usually means someone's hiding a major issue they don't want to deal with. Used cordless nailers are the worst because you can't really test the fuel system properly without buying a cartridge first. And by then, you're already in too deep to walk away. Honestly, you might be better off just looking for a cheap new one on clearance or saving for a refurb from a real seller.

$50 for a used nailer is barely a gamble though.

Lol, "just needs a cleaning" is code for "I've already sprayed half a can of carb cleaner at this thing and now it won't even spark." I feel that pain more than I want to admit. My garage is basically a museum of my own bad decisions when it comes to used tools. At least with a cheap new one you know it won't shoot a nail sideways into your thumb on the first try, lol. That's a win in my book.
