Can we talk about the change in wood prices over the last 18 months? I just redid a quote for a client from 2022 and the cost for the same maple doubled.

Remember when gas prices used to do that? Feels like everything just jumps around now for no clear reason.

Yeah my buddy runs a small cabinet shop and he said the same thing. He had to call a client last month and tell them their whole project quote was wrong because the lumber yard's price on birch plywood went up 40 percent in like three weeks. Said it felt awful, like he was ripping them off even though it was just the new cost. Makes planning anything a total nightmare right now.

Man that's brutal. I wonder if this price chaos is actually pushing people toward cheaper materials or just killing projects. Like maybe clients hear the new number and suddenly they're asking about paint grade plywood instead of birch. Could end up changing what gets built for a whole year.
