Heard a contractor say nail guns are making guys lazy, got me thinking
I was at a supply shop pickup yesterday and overheard a trim guy telling his apprentice that anyone can shoot a 16ga but knowing when to hand-nail is the real skill. It stuck with me because I have seen two jobs fail this year where guys just blasted through with a gun and blew out the wood or missed the stud. Not saying ditch the gun, but I have started checking my air pressure more and hand-setting the first and last fastener on casing. Anyone else find themselves going back to hand nailing for certain cuts or am I just old fashioned?

Felt this one. Backed off a crown molding last week and hand-set the last few. No regrets.
