My lead guy told me to quit sanding between every coat and I argued with him for 20 minutes
We were finishing oak cabinets in a shop in Lansing and he said the primer coat just needs a scuff, not a full pass, or you're just burning paper and time. I ran the numbers on our last 3 kitchens and he was dead on, we were eating about 6 hours per job for nothing. Anybody else here had to eat crow over a finishing shortcut that actually held up?

Man, this same thing happens everywhere once you start watching for it. People keep doing stuff a certain way just because nobody stopped to check if it still made sense. Then somebody runs the numbers and it turns out half the work was never needed in the first place.
