My old boss told me to stop using nails for deck joist hangers. Changed everything.

He said I was wasting time and money using nails when screws are way stronger and faster. I fought him on it for a while because I learned with nail guns in school. But after trying Simpson Strong-Tie screws on a deck in Denver last month, I see his point. They hold way tighter and I didn't have to go back and fix popped nails. Has anyone else switched from nails to screws for hangers and regretted it or been glad they did?

Not gonna lie, I switched to screws once and then my drill battery died halfway through and I had to finish with a hand screwdriver like a total clown. Nails would've been done in two seconds flat.

Yeah @logan_young29 I heard the same thing from an old school framer up in Portland.

Nails flex better with wood movement. Screws snap right off.
