Old timer at the lumber yard told me my new nail gun was junk

Overheard this guy in his 70s at the yard in Nashville last Friday talking to the counter guy about how cordless nailers are killing quality work. Said he watched a kid shoot 16 finish nails into a single cabinet face because he couldn't feel the depth right. I actually switched back to my pneumatic for trim work after that conversation. Sure it's slower and I gotta drag a hose, but I haven't blown through a single piece of oak since. Anyone else find battery guns oversensitive on hardwoods?

Nah, old heads just hate change and blame their tools for user error every time.

Buddy of mine buried three brads in a row so deep they poked out the other side of the casing.

Buried three brads in a row so deep they poked out the other side" - man, that hits close to home. I did the exact same thing last week on a door casing. Had sanded the paint smooth on the back side before I even noticed the tips sticking out. Makes me wonder if my depth setting is just a little off or if I'm just jamming it in there like a caveman. You ever finish a project and realize you spent more time fixing your own mistakes than actually building the thing?
