TIL a trim guy at a job in Amarillo told me to stop caulking my miters and just glue them
I was doing baseboard in a flip house off Georgia St last month and this older trim guy watched me run a bead of caulk into every miter joint. He told me straight up, "You're filling gaps you shouldn't have. Glue the joint and it won't open." I switched to putting a small line of wood glue on the miter and rubbing it tight before nailing, and those joints came out way cleaner with almost no caulk after. I still keep the caulk gun handy for outside corners, but inside miters get glue now. Been about 6 jobs since then, how do you all handle miters that open up after the wood dries out?
