Update: That $500 track saw I bought last month already paid for itself on one job
I was on the fence about dropping that kind of cash on a track saw, but I had a big kitchen remodel come in with a ton of laminate countertop cuts. Ripping 8 foot sheets of plywood straight with a circular saw and a straightedge was taking forever and I kept getting tear out. After three days of fighting it I finally bit the bullet and got a track saw with a 55 inch track. First cut on the job was dead straight with no chipping. I finished that whole kitchen in two days instead of five. The customer even commented on how clean the edges looked. Has anyone else had a tool purchase that paid for itself faster than you expected?

Man that dust collection bit is a total game changer.

Started using mine for cutting PVC trim boards on a covered porch job and that's where it really clicked for me. The dust collection on the track saw was so good I didn't have to sweep up plastic shavings from all over the yard or worry about kicking them into the grass. Saved me at least half a day on cleanup alone compared to just using a miter saw or a jigsaw, plus no more fighting with tape measures for every single cut.
