Can we talk about the old guy at the supply house who said my knee kicker was doing all the work my knee should?
Struck up a chat with him last Tuesday while waiting on a roll of tack strip at the supply house off Route 9. He watched me load up and said, "You're kicking from your hip, that's why your back hurts by 2pm." I laughed it off, but he showed me how he drives from the knee and lets the tool take the hit, and said he's been laying carpet 31 years without a back brace. Tried it on a 40 yard stretch in a rental in Maplewood the next morning and my lower back felt fine by lunch for the first time in a while. Now I'm second guessing how I've been doing it since I started. Any of you old school guys got a take on kicking from the knee vs the hip?
