Had a ladder slip out on me during a living room job in Phoenix last Thursday
I was stretching carpet in a 12x15 room near 7th Street and the ladder just slid on the hardwood before I even got the knee kicker set. Landed on my side and popped the stretcher out of the carpet, leaving a big wrinkle right in the middle of the room. Anyone else ever had a ladder fail on them mid-stretch and how did you fix the damage without redoing the whole room?

Man I had a buddy this happened to a couple years back in Mesa. He was stretching carpet on a Sunday job and the ladder foot kicked out on some slick tile. He landed hard and the stretcher flew out, left this ugly ripple right down the middle of the room like a wave in the carpet. He was SO mad he almost ripped the whole thing up but instead he used a power stretcher to pull the slack from the other side of the room toward the wrinkle. Took him like two hours of careful stretching and cutting the carpet back at the tack strip to get it flat again. He said it worked but he had to re-lace the carpet on that wall and it left a tiny seam line that you could only see if you knew where to look.

Hmm, I gotta push back a little @the_lee. That tiny seam line would drive me nuts every time I saw it.
