Hot take: my installer buddy in Fresno said he stopped stretching carpet in closets, and I can't quit thinking about it
He told me this over a burger last Tuesday, said he just power stretches to the door and cuts it in with a mini stretcher only on the seams. I've been doing full closet stretches for 11 years because that's how the old guy who trained me did it, and now I'm wondering if I've been killing my knees for nothing. My worry is a closet floor is small enough that a bad stretch shows up as a ripple against the wall in a month, but maybe that's just me being stubborn. Anyone here actually skip the closet stretch on a regular install, and did you ever get a callback because of it?
That "killing my knees for nothing" line hit home, been there. I still stretch closets out of habit and fear, so I feel your pain even if I can't tell you it's wrong.
