Kicked myself for ruining a $400 roll of carpet with a bad seam

Had the power stretcher slip on me in a client's living room in Des Moines last Tuesday and it pulled the seam clean apart. Cost me an extra 3 hours to redo it plus the wasted material. Anyone else ever had a stretcher just lose grip at the worst possible moment?

Six times this month tools failed right when it mattered most.

You're making it sound like a catastrophe. Tools break sometimes, that's just how it goes. Unless you're doing brain surgery or defusing a bomb with these things, I doubt it's that deep. Probably annoying, sure, but six failures in a month sounds like you're either buying cheap junk or using them wrong. Maybe take a step back and figure out what's actually causing the problems instead of acting like the universe is against you.
