My power stretcher gave out halfway through a big job in Tempe yesterday

I was pulling the last section in a living room when the main gear just stripped out with a loud crack. Had to finish the room with a knee kicker, which took twice as long and my back is killing me today. The thing was only about 18 months old, a mid-range model I got from a local supplier. What do you guys do when a key tool fails on site? I need a more reliable brand.
