Spent 20 minutes stretching a stair runner in Boise only to find the tack strip was 3/8 short
Pulled the carpet back down to bare tackless and saw the installer before me had set it flush with the baseboard instead of leaving a finger's gap, so I reset the whole run with a fresh strip and a knee kicker and it finally grabbed, has anyone else been burned by someone else's short strip on a stair job?

3/8 isn't short enough to matter, strips usually gap a bit at the wall anyway.
