Spent $200 on that fancy carpet seam sealer... total waste of money

I used to swear by the expensive seam sealer from the supply house, the one that costs like $40 a tube. Read some forum posts from guys saying the cheap stuff from the hardware store works just as good. I didn't believe them... figured you get what you pay for. Then I tried the $8 tube from Lowe's on a living room job last week. Same result, no curling, no peeling, held up perfect after stretching. I wasted probably $200 over the last year buying the pricey stuff for no good reason. Anybody else find a cheaper alternative that actually works better than the fancy brand stuff?

lol I feel this in my soul. I once spent $50 on a "specialty" carpet adhesive and then found out the $12 stuff from the hardware store literally does the same thing. Guess I'm just paying for the fancy label.

My friend actually went through the same thing with yoga mats. She bought this $80 "professional grade" mat online and it started peeling after three months. Meanwhile her roommate had a $15 mat from the big box store that held up for years. I've seen it happen with so many products where the price tag really doesn't match the quality. The whole "specialty" label just hooks people into spending more without any real proof it's better.
