Spent 5 Hours Fighting a Seam That Took 20 Minutes to Fix

Had a job in Tacoma yesterday, high-end loop pile in a living room with a weird angled hallway. I stretched and glued that seam three separate times, kept popping right around the transition strip near the sliding door. Finally called my buddy who's been doing this since the 90s, he shows up, looks at the subfloor, and points out the tackstrip was nailed too close to the seam, causing the carpet to pull at a weird angle. He moved two nails, re-stretched, and it lay flat instantly. I was so annoyed I nearly replaced the whole room before figuring that out. Has anyone else had a simple subfloor detail cost them half a day? I usually check tackstrip placement but I guess I got sloppy after using the same method for years.

Used to brush off subfloor details, but that tackstrip thing just proved how much they matter.
