That safety guy in Memphis made me rethink my knee pads

Last Friday I was doing a hallway run in an apartment complex and this older safety inspector walked by while I was on my knees. He just said 'son, you're gonna feel that at 45' and kept going. I laughed it off but that night my right knee was aching something fierce, and I did the math on how many hours a week I spend kneeling. I've always used the cheap foam pads from the hardware store because they're light, but I finally borrowed a set of the gel strap-on ones from my buddy. The difference was honestly night and day, I finished the same hallway without needing to shift around every ten minutes. Has anyone else switched to a pricier knee pad setup and actually stuck with it, or do we all just deal with the soreness?

Man, that's how it always goes with gear, we cheap out upfront but pay double in the long run.
