Took me 5 years to stop stretching carpet before tacking

Honestly, I always pulled carpet super tight at the tack strip edges, thought tension was king, then a job in Austin failed inspection because the seams buckled overnight. Tipping me off was a boring YouTube comment about slack control, now I use a knee kicker at 80% power and everything lays flat. Anyone else grow up on a crew that taught them the hard pull method?

Wait, are you saying 80% power on the kicker is the magic number? I always thought max pull meant fewer wrinkles, but seams popping taught me different. Your Austin story sounds like my first year, except mine was a hallway that looked like a wave. Slack control is real, I just wish someone told me sooner than five years.
