Tried carpet stretching without a power stretcher on a tight hallway

I had this 3 foot wide hallway in a house over in Oak Park and thought I could save time by just using a knee kicker. The carpet looked fine for about two days, then I started seeing ripples near the doorways. Had to go back and redo the whole thing with a power stretcher. Anyone else find that knee kickers just don't cut it for narrow spaces?

Ha, isnt that just how it goes? You try to cut a corner and it ends up biting you twice as hard. Feels like half the stuff we do is just learning the hard way that shortcuts almost never pay off.

Yeah I used to think you could always just muscle through stuff like that... but after enough times of it backfiring I gotta admit you're right.

Laughing because I did the exact same thing in a rental once, thought I was being clever. The knee kicker just doesn't have the muscle for a tight hallway, it's like trying to stretch a t-shirt with one hand. Ended up renting the power stretcher for a day and felt like a proper idiot for not doing it first.
