Vent: Chose a $200 seam roller over a $50 one and now my wrist hates me
Picked the expensive metal one thinking it'd last forever, but after 3 jobs in Houston the handle's still awkward and my grip keeps cramping. Anyone else regret going for the heavy duty tool instead of a lighter plastic one?

A $50 plastic one lasted me 5 years in Houston heat.

You're lucky, but I've seen the complete opposite. That plastic gets brittle after a couple years of real UV exposure, not just sitting in a garage. The seals dry out and crack, then water gets in and corrodes the contacts inside. In my experience, the cheap plastic ones start leaking or failing right around the 18 month mark, especially if you're using it daily in that kind of heat.

Come on, is this REALLY that deep? You bought a $200 tool, it didn't change your life, and now your wrist hurts. That sucks but it's not like the plastic one would have saved you from cramps either. I've used both kinds and honestly the cheap ones flex too much when you're really leaning into a seam. They're not some miracle ergonomic solution. Your wrist is gonna hurt regardless if you're doing three jobs in Houston. That's just the price of working hard. People act like a tool choice is a life or death decision. It's a piece of metal or plastic. Your body needs a break, not a lighter roller.
