Why does nobody talk about using a little cornstarch to help slide a big pad into a tight corner?

I was wrestling with a 12-foot pad in a Phoenix bedroom last week and a painter on site suggested it. Has anyone else tried this or have a different trick for stubborn padding?

Honestly, cornstarch sounds like a messy hack that would just attract dirt later. Tbh, a dry pad and some patience working the corners is the proper way. That powder could gum up the backing or cause issues with the floor finish over time. I've seen guys try stuff like that and it always creates more problems than it solves.

But like, how much cornstarch are we talking? A light dusting seems fine, patricialee has a point. Feels like making a big deal over nothing.

Maybe @morgan_black90 is overthinking it, a tiny bit of powder won't ruin the floor.
