Can we talk about my cat walking across the keyboard during a Zoom interview and typing 'gggggggg'?
I was on a final round interview with a company in Austin when my cat Miso jumped on my desk and stepped right on the keyboard. She typed a whole line of g's into the chat and the hiring manager just wrote 'I think your assistant has thoughts.' I tried to play it cool but I was dying inside. Has anyone else had a pet mess up something important like this? How did you recover?
My cousin told me her dog barked during a phone screen and the recruiter asked if she had a roommate. She just said nope, that's my dog, and kept going. The interviewer laughed and she got the job. I read somewhere that stuff like this actually helps people remember you, as long as you dont freak out. So the g's and the assistant line? That manager was joking with you, not judging. Miso basically gave you a talking point... roll with it and send a quick funny note in your thank you email.
