My cat decided my zoom job interview needed a cameo last Thursday
I was nailing a video interview for a decent remote gig, talking about my experience with data entry, when my cat Leo jumped right onto my laptop keyboard. He knocked the camera angle totally sideways and started meowing directly at the screen like he was applying too. The interviewer paused and goes 'is that your hiring manager?' and I just froze for a solid 5 seconds. I managed to laugh it off and grab him, but the whole vibe shifted after that. They actually called me back for a second round though, so maybe the cat helped? Has anyone else had a pet totally steal the show during a serious call?

And isn't it funny how those unplanned moments end up making you more memorable than all your careful prep? It's like the universe sliding in a little reminder that we're all just humans (or cat owners) trying our best on a random Thursday. Kind of makes you wonder if perfection is really the goal or if people connect more with the messiness.

Too relatable. Next time just say 'sorry, he's my technical support.' Works every time.

Tbh I'm with @nora110 on this one, the cat totally made you more memorable but not necessarily in a good way - hiring managers are looking for professionalism and that moment could just as easily have made them think you'd be distracted during work calls. Honestly people forget that these "cute" interruptions can backfire if the interviewer is old school or just having a bad day.
