My client laughed at my pipe bender setup and I switched to a hydraulic model
Last Tuesday I was doing a big repipe job in an old building downtown and this guy walks by my work van while I'm wrestling with my manual bender. He just goes "is that 1980s equipment or are you just slow?" It stung because he was right, I was fighting the bends for 20 minutes each. I looked into electric hydraulic benders that night and grabbed a Milwaukee one for $650 at the supply house. First job after that I cut my time on 10 bends from 3 hours to maybe 45 minutes. Has anyone else had a customer's comment make them totally change their go-to gear?

Man I used to think spending money on fancy hydraulic benders was just showing off. Totally get why you made the switch after that though. That time savings is hard to argue with.

Totally agree. That time savings thing is a game changer once you actually need it.

That first time you bend a perfect 90 and it takes like 30 seconds flat, you just stand there wondering why you ever did it the hard way. Idk, maybe it's just me but I feel like I earned those calluses for nothing.
