That $80 cat tree my tabby won't touch
Spent 80 bucks on a fancy cat tree with sisal rope and a cozy cubby from PetSmart last month. My cat just stares at it and prefers the cardboard box it came in. Anybody else's cat ignore expensive stuff like this?

Blame the cat for not getting it, not the tree. My cat ignored her fancy bed for months and then one day just decided it was her favorite spot. Maybe try moving the tree near a window or rubbing some catnip on the sisal. Cats are weird creatures and they like things on their own schedule. Give it time and it might become the best eighty bucks you ever spent. And honestly, a cardboard box is never going to replace a solid scratching post that saves your couch.

Question if moving it near a window is even the real fix here. @the_richard is right to call out the price because $80 is steep for something a cat might just ignore. Nancy817 is hopeful but not every cat comes around to expensive stuff. My buddy's cat never touched a fancy bed for two years and he just gave it away. Sometimes a cardboard box is genuinely better because cats like tight spaces and the smell. Why waste energy trying to force it when the cat clearly chose the box?
