Vent: My cat decided my job interview was the perfect time to fight his own reflection in the laptop screen
Tried locking him in the other room for the second interview and he just scratched at the door so loud the interviewer asked if I had a raccoon in my house - anyone else's pet have zero sense of timing?

A frozen peanut butter toy buys you 15 minutes? My cat would just bring the toy to the laptop to show it off mid-interview. That little guy turns anything into a performance.

Three times now my dog has barked at the mailman right as I was saying "I'm really good at staying focused under pressure." The timing is just too perfect. I actually think the animals can sense when we are nervous and they try to help in the worst possible way. My dog thinks he is protecting me from the scary uniform man, not ruining my chance at a promotion. Instead of locking them away, I started giving mine a frozen peanut butter toy right before the call. It buys me about 15 minutes of peace before he remembers the mailman exists.

the frozen peanut butter trick is solid, I've done that too. but you gotta time it right or they'll finish just when the interview gets serious. what worked for me was giving mine the toy like 10 minutes before the call so they're into it before you even start. also, try doing a quick high intensity game of fetch or tug right before the frozen toy. that way they're already kind of tired and the licking just finishes them off. my dog used to bark at every single delivery person too, so I feel your pain. it's like they have a sixth sense for the worst possible moment.
