A stranger at a bus stop told me to always carry a spare umbrella, and it saved me last Tuesday.
I was waiting for the 7:15 bus in the rain, and this older guy next to me just said, 'Kid, a second umbrella in your bag is cheaper than a ruined suit.' I laughed it off, but bought a cheap fold-up one for $12. Last week, I was heading to a big meeting across town when my main umbrella broke in a gust. That spare was the only thing between me and showing up looking like a drowned rat. But my friend says that's overkill and I'm just lugging extra weight for a 'maybe' problem. Who was right here? Do you have a piece of random advice from a stranger that actually paid off?

Honestly your friend has a point though. That extra umbrella is just dead weight most days and it takes up space you could use for stuff you actually need. Tbh I'd rather get a little wet sometimes than pack for every single maybe in life. Most random advice is junk anyway, people just say things to fill the silence.
