Gas station stranger saved me from a fake tow truck scam last week

Pulled into a Shell off I-80 around 2 AM, flat tire, tired as hell. Guy in an unmarked truck rolls up, says he can tow me for $200 cash, real pushy. This older lady pumping gas two spots over walks over and says 'that's the same guy who scammed my son last month.' She showed me the actual company name on his door was peeling off, fake logo underneath. I called my buddy with a trailer instead, cost me $50 and a six pack. Has anyone else had strangers step in like that when you're too tired to think straight?

Don't forget most tow trucks are unmarked, but real ones carry proper insurance paperwork you can ask for.
