Heard a stranger quote my exact thought at a bus stop in Portland

I was waiting for the 12 bus last Tuesday and this older guy tells someone on the phone, 'People only change when the pain of staying the same gets too loud.' I almost laughed because Ive been telling my crew that same thing for years about how we handle messy job sites, but hearing it from a total stranger made it stick differently. Anyone else ever have a random overheard line hit harder than any advice you got from someone you know?

Is it weird how a complete stranger can say something that suddenly makes all the pieces click? I used to think advice only counted if it came from someone who knew your mess, but hearing that line about pain getting loud made me rethink that. It hit me that sometimes the truth just needs to come from the outside, not from the noise you're already drowning in.
