Hey, sometimes you pay for the experience, not the results.

Tell your cousin to get a refund next time, seriously. I mean, if the person said they could find lost items, that's a promise they didn't keep. It's one thing to pay for a fun story like alicehernandez says, but it's another to be told something specific will happen. @the_spencer, that's just a scam, not an experience. You gotta call that out right when it happens, or they'll just keep doing it to other people.

My cousin lost eighty bucks to a palm reader at the state fair last year.

Eighty bucks is a lot for a fairground reading. It's just a bit of fun, not a real financial plan. Your cousin paid for a story, not a stolen wallet.
