Serious question, I started humming show tunes while waiting for my bus and now strangers talk to me every day
For 3 years I stood at the stop on 5th and Main in Portland with my headphones in and nobody ever said a word to me. Then one rainy Tuesday my phone died, so I just hummed whatever was stuck in my head, some old song from a musical my mom loves. A guy in a Seahawks hat asked if I was singing Les Mis and we ended up sharing an umbrella for 20 minutes. Now I do it on purpose, and I have learned more about my neighbors in two weeks than in three years. Has anyone else tried dropping the headphones as a way to get people talking, or am I just lucky with this one bus stop?
