Spent $340 on a 'smart' umbrella, it either saved my phone or ruined my week

Tbh I bought this Bluetooth umbrella that alerts your phone if you leave it behind. Last Tuesday in Chicago it poured out of nowhere, and the alert went off while I was just grabbing a coffee. It saved my umbrella from getting stolen honestly, but then the app glitched and dinged me 14 times during a movie. Ngl I'm split on whether the cost was worth it, or if I should've just used a $12 cheap one and kept my phone on silent. Has anyone else paid extra for a 'smart' everyday item and regretted or loved it?

Feel you on this one. I bought a smart water bottle that tracked my drinking and it just made me feel bad about myself every day. The umbrella probably paid for itself that one time, but getting buzzed through a whole movie would've had me throwing it in a river.
